Knowing Jesus

In your personal opinion what does it take for a person to get to Heaven? Did your answer sound something like this? By being a good person and doing good works, by putting your faith and hope into anything as long as it’s whole-hearted, by being spiritual, or maybe you don’t believe in Heaven at all. Please take just a minute and let me share with you how the Bible answers this question.

We are all sinners for only one man ever lived His life without sin and that’s Jesus. (Romans 3:23) You may have heard the word “sin” but let me help you better understand what it means. If you even think a bad thought about someone or wish them harm the Bible says it’s the same as committing the crime. If you want what your neighbor has, his home, car or wife, you are guilty of coveting those things. If you even look at a woman or man and think an impure thought, it is the same as adultery. So you see, we are ALL guilty of “sin.” Because God is completely pure and holy, sin can not be in His presence. God loved us so much that He made a way for humanity and Himself to once again be reunited. This restoration plan is Jesus. (Ephesians 1:7; John 3:16) Jesus is the Son of God, fully man and fully God. He was tempted in the same ways we are even today yet He did not give into the temptations. He remained completely pure while here on earth and became a living sacrifice for God on our behalf. Without this sacrifice we could never be in the presence of God Almighty as we are filthy sinners and He is completely pure and Holy. Jesus is available for all but we must make the choice to accept Him. (Matthew 7:21) We turn away from sin and self (we repent) and in the process turn TO Jesus alone to save us. (Luke 13:3; John 14:6; Romans 10:9-10) Once the decision is made to accept Christ, it is only the beginning. Jesus wants to be Lord of our lives. He wants to have an intimate relationship with each of us and He desires to use us here on earth to make an impact for His eternal kingdom. (John 10:10) How can this happen? By accepting Jesus as your Savior and Lord. If you would like to receive this forgiveness by trusting in Jesus Christ would you open your heart and accept Him as Lord of your life?

Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner in need of salvation. I want to be cleansed of my guilt and forgiven of the sin in my life. Please come into my heart and save me as your child. Thank you Jesus for saving my life and for taking away all my shame and guilt. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Welcome to the family of God!! Please share this exciting experience with your family and friends. The next step in your faith decision is to be baptized. You may go to your local church and share with the pastor your life changing experience and tell him that you would like to be baptized. The baptismal process is an act of obedience to confess before mankind that you are Jesus’ follower for Jesus tells us, “Confess Me before man and I will confess you before my Father.”

Please do not assume your life will be perfect and easy since you have accepted Jesus. In the walk with the Lord, times are still tough and some situations are nearly unbearable, but now you have a friend closer than a brother to walk through each valley you may face. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Once you are a child of God no man can pluck you from His (God’s) hand!

If I may encourage you, begin reading God’s Holy Word by starting in the first chapter of the book of John. Read one chapter a day and allow the Lord to speak to your heart.

Please let me know about the decision you have made so I may join you in the journey by praying for and with you! May God richly bless you and nurture you in His love and grace. He loves you and so do I Child of God. God bless you!
